Happy New Year

Welcome back everyone!
We hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break.  We are eager to begin the new year with lots of fun and learning.

Writing-  We are beginning a new unit on writing opinions.  We have been writing each other letters about favorite characters and books.

Reading - In reading we are working to set goals for ourselves and working with our partners to reach our goals.

Math - Second graders are focusing on place value.  What do the digits 3 and 6 mean in the number 36?  Why is 245 not written as 200405?
First graders are solving story problems, showing their thinking and labeling their answers.

Science -  We are about to begin our new unit on force and motion.  It should be a really fun unit!

As you can see, we are keeping very busy here in first and second grade!

Happy New Year!

APPLE PICKING

Wow!  What a wonderful trip to Chapin Orchards to kick off our unit on farming.  We learned how bees pollinate trees, what critters have to be managed, how to make cider and more!  A great time was had by everyone!  Thank you to all our chaperones.  We couldn't have done it without you.
